William Stein, a notable figure in Educational Technology from Indiana, boasts over 30 years of expertise in K12 IT management. Esteemed for his leadership and problem-solving, he has significantly contributed to strategic planning and the implementation of effective technology solutions. Stein’s voice resonates in the EdTech community, where he tirelessly advocates for digital-equity. As the longstanding Director of Information Systems, his influence extends across multiple facets of technology in education, particularly in cybersecurity and eLearning.

As Director of Information Systems at MSD of Mt. Vernon, Stein has been pivotal in transforming learning experiences, particularly during challenging times. His leadership in the Home Internet Assessment initiative was crucial in addressing the digital divide faced by rural or underprivileged families. Moreover, his work on the Posey County Broadband Taskforce and efforts in gathering hundreds of community letters highlight the lack of high-speed broadband in homes, advocating for broader connectivity solutions.

Under Stein’s guidance, the district witnessed a remarkable leap from a C-rated to an A-rated district, underlining the impact of the 1-to-1 Laptop initiative and emphasis on digital literacy. His forward-thinking approach and adoption of platforms like Google Classroom have enriched the educational journey of students and teachers alike. Additionally, Stein’s involvement in public and private partnerships, collaborating with entities like Verizon, AT&T, and local businesses, was instrumental in enhancing technological resources and professional development opportunities. His advocacy on Capitol Hill, particularly during the CoSN Fly-in days in Washington D.C., underscores his dedication to advancing educational technology and policy. This direct engagement with national legislators highlights his commitment to influencing meaningful change at the highest levels of government.
