A well-rounded approach to school safety includes programs that focus both on outside threats and on student wellbeing. Vector Solutions, the leading provider of training and software solutions to help schools make their operations and communities safer, smarter and better is hosting a webinar at 2 p.m. EDT on October 21, 2021 with the Round Rock ISD Police Department, which was formed in 2019 to serve the Round Rock Independent School District in Texas. The webinar will showcase the department’s Four Pillars of School Policing model, an approach to transformative school policing with a heavy focus on students’ mental wellbeing.

“With the rise in student suicides since the pandemic began, it’s more important than ever that schools’ safety programs address student mental health and social and emotional wellbeing alongside their focus on outside physical threats,” said Vector Solutions Director of Product Management John Abner. “This webinar provides an opportunity for school districts to hear from the Round Rock ISD Police Department which has created an impressive program that does just that.”

The webinar “Connecting the Dots Between Student Mental Health and School Safety,” will feature Chief Jeffrey Yarbrough and Dr. Amy Grosso from Round Rock ISD. They will provide an overview of the department’s Four Pillars of School Policing model and how it promotes safety and security, student advocacy, civil and human rights through racial equity, and behavioral health. They will share how a heavy focus on the social-emotional well-being of students creates a safe environment that allows all students to learn and thrive.

The webinar is just one example of the resources Vector Solutions provides to support student safety and wellness. Vector also offers Student Safety and Wellness courses on topics such as bullying, suicide preventions and digital citizenship, as well as training and compliance courses for staff members.
