National Leaders in Clean Energy Education Host Second Annual Summit

Industry leaders to meet to discuss expanding the clean energy talent ecosystem for an equitable low-carbon future

Leaders in clean energy education Clean Energy Education and Workforce Alliance (CEEWA) – co-founded by the KidWind Project,  REpowering Schools and CE – Clean Energy. Bright Futures. – are hosting the 2022 Virtual Clean Energy Education Summit on February 10, 2022. This event will build upon the important conversations from the 2021 summit as participants seek to organize and leverage the amazing work happening in the energy education space.

“Last year’s event was very inspiring as we brought together a diverse group of energy educators for reflection, conversation, and action,” said Michael Arquin, founder of KidWind. “I look forward to having engaging conversations again this year!”

The 2022 summit will connect 150 teachers, students, researchers, and industry professionals. Participants will share important findings from the 2021 inaugural event, identify action-based priorities for CEEWA and allow participants to connect with others and learn about new and existing clean energy-focused programming.

The event will also feature a keynote panel of “Energy Superheroes” – women in the clean energy industry discussing energy pathways and skills. The five panelists are women featured in the upcoming children’s book, Everyday Superheroes: Women in Energy Careers. The panelists represent the diversity in clean energy careers, from a powerline technician to a finance manager supporting the building of large energy projects.

“We need to spark kids’ imagination and share the diverse energy careers from the national labs to large renewable energy farms,” said Erin Twamley, lead author of Everyday Superheroes. “We know there is an appetite for these stories and based on the first CEEWA summit they are not reaching students.”

This summit was made possible through generous contributions from National Renewable Energy Laboratory , Vernier, EDP Renewables, Pattern Energy, and Orsted. To learn more about the summit, visit hopin.com/events/clean-energy-education-summit.
