Silver Spring, Md. (Thursday, June 11, 2020)–Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) today announced the renewal of its long term partnership with Discovery Education, the leader in standards-aligned digital curriculum resources, engaging content, and professional learning for K-12 classrooms worldwide. LPB’s renewal of its 17-year collaboration with Discovery Education continues empowering K-12 educators across the state to create dynamic digital learning experiences in the classroom and beyond with high-quality content from Discovery Education Experience.
LPB is Louisiana’s largest classroom over the air, on every device, in schools, and in the community. LPB’s Educational Services Department is committed to providing extensive information, lesson plans, materials, and digital resources to support formal K-12 education statewide. Through its long-term partnership with Discovery Education, LPB offers educators and students a host of digital resources, such as Discovery Education Experience, that help teachers build engaging learning experiences for all students.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, LPB recently launched “Learning@Home” in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Education. Through the resources found at Learning@Home, parents and teachers of students in grades Pre-K through 12 can make students’ time at home more educational and productive. Learning@Home includes free videos, apps and games for children, LPB’s broadcast schedules, the free Bright by Text parenting tip messaging service, access to Discovery Education Experience for educators, and more.
A flexible K-12 learning platform, Experience provides compelling high-quality content, ready-to-use digital lessons, unique collaboration tools, and professional learning resources that gives educators everything they need to facilitate instruction and create lasting educational impact. Built for all learners, grade levels, subject areas, and interests, Experience brings new excitement and relevance to the topics educators teach and reaches and engages every student wherever learning is taking place.
“Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s mission to deliver education and cultural enrichment resources statewide is more important than ever. As distance learning has become a part of our world’s “new normal,” it is incredibly important that we continue providing the state’s educators a robust online platform that delivers the best and most effective digital content to students and educators each day,” said President and CEO of Louisiana Public Broadcasting Beth Courtney. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with Discovery Education, as it is a critical component of LPB’s digital resources.”
As a part of the renewal of the Discovery Education-Louisiana Public Broadcasting partnership, the Discovery Education Community will continue supporting Louisiana educators’ efforts to create more personalized learning experiences across the state. This global community of education professionals connects members in school systems and around the world through social media, virtual conferences, and in-person events, fostering valuable networking, idea sharing and inspiration.
“Each day, Discovery Education’s long-term collaboration with Louisiana Public Broadcasting is helping the state’s educators maintain the continuity of learning across the state,” said Kristen Berish, Discovery Education Senior Director of Partner Success. “Discovery Education is proud to proceed with this partnership in 2020 and we look forward to continuing to work with the states’ educators to serve students at home or in the classroom in the future.”
