Free event features five thought leadership webinars to help educators accelerate literacy and language learning for Emergent Bilingual and multilingual students
BOSTON (Oct. 11, 2022) – For the 5 million Emergent Bilingual students in the United States, honoring culture and life experiences is essential to accelerate English language and literacy acquisition. To help educators empower Emergent Bilingual and multilingual students to thrive, Lexia Learning presents Emergent Bilingual Week, Oct. 17-21, 2022.
Now in its third year, Emergent Bilingual Week promotes the culture, heritage, and empowerment of Emergent Bilingual and multilingual students. Designed for district and school administrators, teachers, and thought leaders, the five-day event consists of a series of webinars that explore important aspects of supporting Emergent Bilingual students. Featured content includes the acceleration of English language learning, the role of oral language in literacy instruction, language learning efficacy and research, how educators can leverage artificial intelligence to support Emergent Bilingual students, and more.
New this year, Emergent Bilingual Week will be produced in partnership with EdWeb, offering attendees continuing education credit for each webinar session. All webinars will take place from 12 to 1 p.m. Eastern time.
“As the number of Emergent Bilingual students continues to increase nationwide, teachers and administrators need to select evidence-based methods to ensure better academic outcomes for every learner,” said Lexia President, Nick Gaehde. “Emergent Bilingual Week is designed to celebrate the superpowers that multilingual students bring to the classroom, and provide leaders and teachers with the research, strategies, and tools they need to achieve educational equity for their students.”
