Ellipsis Education Announces Dr. Whitney Dove as New CEO

The former teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum developer takes the reins as the leader in turnkey computer science curricula for K-12

Ellipsis Education, a leader in computer science curriculum for K-12 education, has named Dr. Whitney Dove, former vice president of product for Ellipsis Education, as its new CEO.

Throughout her career, Dr. Dove has managed the online professional development programs at the National Institute for STEM Education, served as a founding member of the STEMscopes Curriculum team, and worked as an eighth grade science teacher and instructional coach.

Dr. Dove’s perspectives are influenced by her genuine desire to help teachers bring best practices into their classroom through high-quality curriculum materials. Dr. Dove earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech. She also holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Texas – Arlington and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Austin College. She has continually helped deliver high-quality programs and services to the market by providing compelling strategic direction and vision for Ellipsis’ curriculum.

We are excited that Dr. Dove has accepted the role as chief executive officer,” said Mark E. Hill, Ellipsis Education chairman of the board. “Her expertise in building our curriculum, along with her leadership skills, will serve our customers well and help them to continue to remove barriers to teaching computer science.”

Ellipsis Education’s mission is to remove barriers to teaching computer science. Regardless of their level of subject-matter experience, educators can use Ellipsis to effectively teach computer science. Teachers can use the Ellipsis Curriculum Delivery Platform to navigate 13 full-year courses, with detailed lesson plans, pacing guides, and standards maps. Every course includes four lesson types: unplugged, coding, digital citizenship, and STEM careers. Ellipsis also offers curriculum training and professional development workshops to encourage continuous learning.

“I am deeply honored to lead this organization as we continue our mission of removing barriers to teaching computer science and serving educators and students across the nation,” said Dr. Dove. “Throughout my career, I have been driven by the central purpose of helping teachers in their most important work—teaching. Ellipsis Education is doing exactly that. I am very much looking forward to our next chapter.”

Ellipsis Education recently changed its name from Codelicious to better represent its wide scope of offerings beyond coding. Sara Larco, CPA, has also been promoted from VP of finance to CFO. With previous roles at High Alpha and LiftbridgeCXO, Sara has extensive experience guiding the financial growth of early-stage technology companies.
