Built for School Districts, Flocabulary’s New Data-Driven Analytics & Reporting Provide Insights on Students’ Vocabulary Acquisition

The new version of Flocabulary opens the door to differentiated learning, providing personalized data and reporting features to measure vocabulary acquisition

Nearpod, a Renaissance company and a teacher-centric, interactive instructional platform that gives teachers real-time insights into student learning, announces new data-driven insights for Flocabulary. Built for school districts, the new version of Flocabulary will help district leaders measure and take action on students’ vocabulary acquisition and proficiency for school districts as a whole and down to the school, classroom, or student level.

Education leaders recognize that effective vocabulary instruction requires an explicit, multi-faceted approach. Research shows that students must learn thousands of new words each year to progress at the pace of grade-level instruction. To be effective and make learning meaningful, instruction must be intentional and integrate foundational skills to support learning.

Through rigorous and engaging instructional experiences, Flocabulary builds students’ academic vocabulary and comprehension with K–12 standards-aligned video-based lessons and activities that leverage the power of hip-hop, storytelling, and emotional connections—supporting language acquisition and processing. A major component of hip-hop music, rhyme and repetition helps students remember and recall important information.

The new version of Flocabulary provides district leaders better insight into their students’ vocabulary acquisition through:

  • Detailed analytics and reporting dashboards available at the district, school, and teacher level to provide insights into vocabulary acquisition and proficiency
  • In-depth reporting on vocabulary exposure and proficiency on vocabulary words across the curriculum
  • Auto-generated and customized vocabulary practice sets based on individual student performance

“As more states prioritize literacy in their schools and districts, the analytics, reporting, and vocabulary practice sets in the new version of Flocabulary will help administrators and teachers make smarter, more data-driven decisions,” said Todd Brekhus, Chief Product Officer at Renaissance and General Manager of Nearpod. “Flocabulary challenges students to be critical, creative, and curious. Paired with these data-driven insights, educators can take action right now to differentiate learning at scale.”

Rooted in social-emotional learning, creativity, and collaboration, Flocabulary helps educators create a strong foundation for vocabulary acquisition and academic growth in their classrooms through rigorous and engaging lessons. Aligned to state standards, each lesson provides opportunities to bring curricula to life and reinforce core knowledge and crucial skills.

Accounts with a district-level license will start experiencing some of these features as early as this May, with a full roll-out anticipated for back-to-school 2023. To learn how to bring Flocabulary to your school district, please visit https://www.flocabulary.com/educational-rap-districts/.
