Charlotte, NC (Monday, August 29, 2022)— Alabama’s Huntsville College Preparatory School (HCPS) today announced a new partnership with Discovery Education, the worldwide edtech leader whose state-of-the-art digital platform supports learning wherever it takes place. Through this new collaboration, HCPS’s educators gain access to an award-winning suite of digital resources supporting the school’s mission to provide students with an individualized academic experience that is a catalyst for confidence and curiosity.
HCPS is committed to offering students a multisensory learning experience that increases student engagement, skill acquisition, and retention. All students are exposed to various university-level learning opportunities through dual-enrollment volunteer and enrichment relationships with local universities. To assist HCPS educators in their efforts to create rigorous, individualized instruction for students, school leaders sought a suite of ready-to-use digital resources.
Following a review of possible solutions, HCPS staff selected the following Discovery Education resources:

Used in classrooms across the United States and Canada, and delivered through Discovery Education’s K-12 platform, the Science Techbook drives engagement with exclusive phenomena and interactive content. Virtual and hands-on investigations, STEM activities, and a variety of instructional supports enhance the delivery of impactful, blended instruction, in person or at a distance. Digital teacher editions also provide flexible pacing options, embedded teacher notes, and pathways for learning to address diverse learners.
Discovery Education’s Social Studies Techbooks.
Featuring standards-aligned, core-curricular resources that use an inquiry-based approach to enhance literacy and critical thinking skills, Discovery Education’s Social Studies Techbook aids teachers and students as they approach inquiry through the 5Es Framework: Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, and Evaluate. From stories of ancient cultures to in-depth explorations of civics and government, this comprehensive digital textbook takes concepts off the pages and brings lessons to life.
Math Techbook’s standards-aligned content is designed for diverse students and curated by experts. By adding real-world context to everyday math concepts, this digital math textbook makes traditional math problems relatable and relevant. It combines conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application to help all students develop mastery of math and pave the way for online math programs.
An interdisciplinary K-8 resource, STEM Connect blends dynamic digital content with ready-to-use lessons and hands-on activities to enhance core curriculum and cultivate valuable design thinking skills that prepare students for the future. Built on the 4Cs framework and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, STEM Connect purposefully integrates across disciplines and provides all the necessary resources to introduce real-world challenges and design thinking skills to students. With modular lesson plans, improved navigation, and enhancements to core features, STEM Connect gives teachers more flexibility for online or in-person instruction while students grow from local problem solvers to imaginative, global solution seekers.
“At the Huntsville College Preparatory School, educators are dedicated to providing each student a unique, individualized learning experience tailored to their personal abilities and goals,” said Principal Monique Griffin. “The new Discovery Education resources coming to our school’s classrooms this fall will help teachers better meet the needs of our unique student body, and we are excited to begin integrating these resources into instruction.”
Discovery Education will also provide HCPS’s educators dedicated professional learning to help the school’s educators prepare to use these resources in the coming school year and recognize the full return on their edtech investment. Through these interactive professional development sessions, participants will learn best practices for integrating their new digital resources into instruction. Effective professional development will maximize the power of these resources, increase student engagement in learning, and support students’ continued academic development.
In addition, Discovery Education is providing HCPS’s teachers access to the Discovery Education Community. A global community of education professionals, the Discovery Education Community connects members across school systems and around the world through social media, virtual conferences, and in-person events, fostering valuable networking, idea sharing, and inspiration.
“Every student deserves the opportunity to pursue an individual course of study,” said Corey Hampton, Discovery Education Coordinator of National Partnerships. “We are excited to work with Principal Monique Griffin and Vice Principal Isaac Griffin and their fantastic team on our joint mission to create the engaging digital learning experiences all students deserve.”
